Activities include:

-Interacting with the horse through in hand activities like obstacle courses, trail walks and free interaction.
-learning how to take care of a horse through feeding, mucking out, grooming and field maintenance
-understanding horse behavior by watching the herd and seeing how horses communicate with their body language.

Funding

There is a charge for our services. This can be paid privately if you can afford, or by Social Services if you are eligible for direct payments.

We are happy to work with schools and organisations on limited budgets to find extra funding.

We try to make our sessions as accessible as possible so please get in touch if you have any queries.

Safety

We are a fully licensed riding school established in 2009.

Our staff are very experienced in working with horses and children.

We are fully insured.

We require participants to wear a helmet (can be borrowed from us) when walking with a pony unaided.

Our horses have had training to prepare them for their therapeutic roles.

Horse Welfare

Our horses' welfare is very important to us at P&A Therapeutic Horsmanship Centre. We take care to ensure that our horses needs are always met.

Living in a safe environment: Our horses live in a mixed herd, this enables them to freely interact with other horses and get lots of social interaction outside of the sessions.

They also live outside as much as possible. This is to allows them to move, eat and drink freely in an environment that is natural to them.

Our sessions are always centered around the horse, if they show signs of discomfort we will always put their needs first.

We also believe that the horses benefit from the sessions as well! Through the grooming, bonding and play, the horses grow a bond with the participants.

Through our licence we are also required to keep a record of our ponies care and exercise plans to make sure they are healthy and happy.
